What was the Minotaur? Did a Welsh prince discover America? Did Robin Hood really exist? How does the Star of Bethlehem fit into the science of astronomy? Is the Vinland Map a fake? Can archaeologists use spirit messages to guide their work? For centuries, philosophers, scientists, and charlatans have attempted to decipher the baffling mysteries of our past, from the Stonehenge to the lost continent of Atlantis. Today, however, DNA testing, radiocarbon dating, and other cutting-edge investigative tools, together with a healthy dose of common sense, are guiding us closer to the truth. Peter James and Nick Thorpe, the professional historian and archaeologist team who created the acclaimed Ancient Inventions, now tackle these age-old conundrums, presenting the latest information from the scientific community--and the most startling challenges to traditional explanations of mysteries such as: - The rise and fall of the Maya - A lost cache of Dead Sea Scrolls - The curse of Tutankhamun - The devastation of Sodom and Gomorrah - The Nazca Lines These true mystery stories twist and turn like a good whodunit, as James and Thorpe present the evidence for and against the expert theories, shedding new light on humankind's age-old struggle to make sense of the past. The authors also make dramatic contributions of their own to the fray, demonstrating persuasively that cataustrophic events--including the collisions of comets with the Earth long ago--could explain puzzles that have baffled experts for centuries. Ancient Mysteries will entertain and enlighten, delight the curious and inform the serious. From the Hardcover edition.
The purpose of these lectures is to consider the origin and nature of the Ancient Mysteries and Modern Masonry and to show the relation which they bear one to the other. Freemasonry deals largely with the morals and symbols of the Mysteries of Antiquity, and originally was one of the channels of Ancient Wisdom. There were a few among the founders of Modern Masonry who possessed the Royal Secret, or, at least, had a knowledge of its existence, and, if the key has been lost, the Mason, as Heir-apparent of the Old Wisdom, should be foremost in the search for its recovery. All agree that the Masonic symbols and traditions are of the greatest antiquity, and can be traced to the far East--to the earliest civilization, from which time and place they have spoken in nature's language to all peoples of the earth. We are more and more convinced that this picture language of our ritual contains a most complete philosophy--a knowledge embracing the eternal verities of the universe, and that these symbols were designed by the Initiates of old to preserve and convey that Ancient Wisdom to the present and future generations. Though empires and dynastic continents have appeared and passed away, these ancient symbols, hewn in rock-cut temples and monuments, have served to convey the Great Secret from ages past and will continue its record as long as this part of the universe remains.

The Holy Scriptures predict end-time catastrophes and global upheaval as foretold in the mysterious scrolls of Daniel and Revelation, and confirmed by Jesus in the Gospel accounts. However, believers through the centuries have wondered, why has there been such a long protracted delay in Messiah's return? How close are we to the appointed time written about by the Hebrew prophets? Are we the last generation? And, how will all the ancient last-day prophecies play out in our modern world? Some of these questions have recently been answered by looking at the prophecies with a set of new eyes. For example, it's commonly taught that Daniel's visions relate mainly to kings, wars and events of history past; therefore, the book has little relevance to modern times. However, the overlapping similarities between Daniel's visions and time periods and the events and timelines in the book of Revelation clearly show they are related. So, by uniting the prophecies of these two books into one, a bold new understanding has been unleashed of just how human history, as we know it, will come to an abrupt end.The prophetic time periods of the two books (490 days; 1,150 days; 1,260 days; 1,290 days and 1,335 days) were first aligned into a chronological chart in 1990, and two years later it was discovered the chart lined up between the Biblical/Jewish Festivals in what is now referred to as The Kingdom Calendar. If accurate, the “appointed times and seasons” counting periods that lead to the end of the age will begin at Purim with a disastrous Jerusalem event that will stop daily worship at the Western Wall and Temple Mount, and the daily counting will continue for over three and one-half years of global turmoil—ending at the Great Tribulation and Armageddon confrontation. The Insights in Prophecy 30 lesson guides will take you step by step through the books of Daniel and Revelation, showing how they relate to one another, and offering you a fresh new perspective on the previously sealed oracles… for “Surely the Sovereign LORD does nothing without revealing His plan to His servants the prophets,” (Amos 3:7). You'll discover thought-provoking questions, along with Biblical answers and commentary on the various aspects of God's unfolding plan for the last days leading up to Messiah's return and His Eternal Jubilee.
Zeus and the other gods of shining Olympus were in reality divine only by popular consent. Over the course of time Olympian luster diminished in favor of religious experiences more immediate to the concerns of people living in an increasingly cosmopolitan ancient world. These experiences were provided by the mysteries, religions that flourished particularly during the Hellenistic period and were secretly practiced by groups of adherents who decided, through personal choice, to be initiated into the profound realities of one deity or another. Unlike the official state religions, in which people were expected to make an outward show of allegiance to the local gods, the mysteries emphasized an inwardness and privacy of worship within a closed band of initiates. In this book, Marvin W. Meyer explores the sacrifices and prayers, the public celebrations and secret ceremonies, the theatrical performances and literary works, the gods and goddesses that were a part of the mystery religions of Greece in the seventh century B.C. to the Judaism and Christianity of the Roman world of the seventh century A.D.

This carefully crafted ebook: “The Secret Doctrines of the Rosicrucians (Unabridged)” is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents. Rosicrucianism is a philosophical secret society said to have been founded in late medieval Germany by Christian Rosenkreuz. It holds a doctrine or theology "built on esoteric truths of the ancient past", which, "concealed from the average man, provide insight into nature, the physical universe and the spiritual realm." Rosicrucianism is symbolized by the Rose Cross. Many esoteric societies have claimed to derive their doctrines, in whole or in part, from the original Rosicrucians (including Freemasonry). Several modern societies have been formed of the study of Rosicrucianism and allied subjects. William Walker Atkinson (1862-1932) was a prolific writer. His works treat themes related to the mental world, occultism, divination, psychic reality, and mankind's nature. They constitute a basis for what Atkinson called "New Psychology" or "New Thought".
In the early ages occult knowledge was taught openly, as the sciences are taught in our colleges to-day. But in the course of time many allowed their selfishness to rule and so abused their power that it became necessary to withhold such knowledge from the unworthy. This was the condition of religious affairs when the Mysteries were necessarily established by the King-Priests of the Divine Dynasties, in the early days of Atlantis.-from "The Origin of the Mysteries"Though the author cannot, alas, "lift the veil from the secrets of the Order," 32nd-degree Freemason Charles H. Vail endeavors to lead the curious toward a more complete understanding of the ancient knowledge of the eternal truth of the universe of which the Masons are the keepers. From the great antiquity of Masonic symbols and traditions to the formation of the organization with their perpetuation as its goal, this 1909 book is an intriguing glimpse inside one of the most secretive fraternities in existence. It is required reading for those fascinated by arcane wisdom and secret societies.
'IN MY HOUSE THERE ARE MANY MANSIONS, ' JESUS STATED. NOW HERE IS THE PROOF! "Evidence has accumulated that there are people on earth that don't really belong here!" George Hunt Williamson, author of OTHER TONGUES OTHER FLESH stated as early as 1955. This doesn't mean they came here aboard a flying saucer, disembarked, put on a tweed suit, polished up their earthly languages and moved into the house next door. It does mean, however that there is a special class or order of beings in the Universe that are different from us because of the fact that they must wander from one world to another, and from place to another. They are the "chimney sweeps" of creation. It is their specific job to be the "trash cans" of the Universe and aid their fellow man on these backward worlds." They come in many disguises. . . Most are friendly. A few are NOT! They include: THE WANDERERS THE MIGRANTS THE PROPHETS THE HARVESTERS THE AGENTS THE INTRUDERS THE GUESSERS In OTHER TONGUES OTHER FLESH REVISITED Williamson deciphers the strange symbols left from a depression of the bottom of the spaceman's shoes in the soil from which a plaster of paris cast was made on the spot. This is the famous George Adamski contact with Orthon in the desert which Williamson was the primary witness too this event. Here are SECRETS concerning the creating of life and the evolution of humankind entrusted to only a handful. And, although Williamson has passed on his legacy is vastly important. So much so that Alec Hidel in the Excluded Middle recently confided: "There can be no doubt that, by accident or design, Williamson and his various collaborators played an enormous part in shaping New Age thought in all its manifestations. Together they constituted the single most important occult group of the post-war era. Their influence is made all the more remarkable by the fact that it has seldom been acknowledged, or even perceived by other researchers in the field."

"Called the ""Reader's Digest of New England Archaeology,"" by experts in the field, this book covers all finds and sits by amateur and professional ancient artifact hunters since America was first settled. Hundreds of messages were cut into stone by unknown ancient settlers. Carved faces, well-made homes of rock, Celtic ritual sites, dolmens, and other ancient remnants are scattered throughout the New England states, making it quite apparent that visitors from other lands lived here hundreds of years before Columbus discovered America. Ancient coins, weapons, lamps, containers and art objects have been uncovered as well -- all well documented and described, with photos in this fascinating book."

Roger Calverley has crafted this deck for divination and initiation, the background and the process of which is described in detail in his book, Ancient Mysteries Tarot. 78 cards plus insert booklet.
WHEN confronted with a problem involving the use of the reasoning faculties, individuals of strong intellect keep their poise, and seek to reach a solution by obtaining facts bearing upon the question. Those of immature mentality, on the other hand, when similarly confronted, are overwhelmed. While the former may be qualified to solve the riddle of their own destiny, the latter must be led like a flock of sheep and taught in simple language. They depend almost entirely upon the ministrations of the shepherd. The Apostle Paul said that these little ones must be fed with milk, but that meat is the food of strong men. Thoughtlessness is almost synonymous with childishness, while thoughtfulness is symbolic of maturity. There are, however, but few mature minds in the world; and thus it was that the philosophic-religious doctrines of the pagans were divided to meet the needs of these two fundamental groups of human intellect--one philosophic, the other incapable of appreciating the deeper mysteries of life. To the discerning few were revealed the esoteric, or spiritual, teachings, while the unqualified many received only the literal, or exoteric, interpretations. In order to make simple the great truths of Nature and the abstract principles of natural law, the vital forces of the universe were personified, becoming the gods and goddesses of the ancient mythologies. While the ignorant multitudes brought their offerings to the altars of Priapus and Pan (deities representing the procreative energies), the wise recognized in these marble statues only symbolic concretions of great abstract truths. In all cities of the ancient world were temples for public worship and offering. In every community also were philosophers and mystics, deeply versed in Nature's lore. These individuals were usually banded together, forming seclusive philosophic and religious schools. The more important of these groups were known as the Mysteries. Many of the great minds of antiquity were initiated into these secret fraternities by strange and mysterious rites, some of which were extremely cruel. Alexander Wilder defines the Mysteries as "Sacred dramas performed at stated periods. The most celebrated were those of Isis, Sabazius, Cybele, and Eleusis." After being admitted, the initiates were instructed in the secret wisdom which had been preserved for ages. Plato, an initiate of one of these sacred orders, was severely criticized because in his writings he revealed to the public many of the secret philosophic principles of the Mysteries. Every pagan nation had (and has) not only its state religion, but another into which the philosophic elect alone have gained entrance. Many of these ancient cults vanished from the earth without revealing their secrets, but a few have survived the test of ages and their mysterious symbols are still preserved. Much of the ritualism of Freemasonry is based on the trials to which candidates were subjected by the ancient hierophants before the keys of wisdom were entrusted to them.
