Three ordinary women are about to take one extraordinary step. Twenty-two-year-old Skeeter has just returned home after graduating from Ole Miss. She may have a degree, but it is 1962, Mississippi, and her mother will not be happy till Skeeter has a ring on her finger. Skeeter would normally find solace with her beloved maid Constantine, the woman who raised her, but Constantine has disappeared and no one will tell Skeeter where she has gone. Aibileen is a black maid, a wise, regal woman raising her seventeenth white child. Something has shifted inside her after the loss of her own son, who died while his bosses looked the other way. She is devoted to the little girl she looks after, though she knows both their hearts may be broken. Minny, Aibileen’s best friend, is short, fat, and perhaps the sassiest woman in Mississippi. She can cook like nobody’s business, but she can’t mind her tongue, so she’s lost yet another job. Minny finally finds a position working for someone too new to town to know her reputation. But her new boss has secrets of her own. Seemingly as different from one another as can be, these women will nonetheless come together for a clandestine project that will put them all at risk. And why? Because they are suffocating within the lines that define their town and their times. And sometimes lines are made to be crossed. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don’t.
Aibileen is a black maid in 1962 Jackson, Mississippi, who's always taken orders quietly, but lately she's unable to hold her bitterness back. Her friend Minny has never held her tongue but now must somehow keep secrets about her employer that leave her speechless. White socialite Skeeter just graduated college. She's full of ambition, but without a husband, she's considered a failure. Together, these seemingly different women join together to write a tell-all book about work as a black maid in the South, that could forever alter their destinies and the life of a small town...

It didn't take long on my first job as a Help Desk Technician to realize why a lot of folks don't want to pursue this career path. This type of work isn't for everyone. Let's face it, nobody wants to constantly deal with unhappy users, and where "bug", "fix" and "workaround" are the three most commonly used terms on a daily basis. But it doesn't have to be that way. Yes it is hard work to change that all-to-common scenario, but the payoffs can be tremendous. My career has spanned across many organizations and over twenty five years where I've had to completely restructure the concept of the Help Desk. In every case, customer satisfaction increased at least several fold, call volume was reduced by as much as seventy percent, and the moral boost virtually immeasurable. All of a sudden Help Desk Techs were asked for by name, holiday cards were received in the mail, and even unsolicited testimonials were sent to executive management complimenting the excellent support and service. Here is my "professional autobiography", a springboard from which you can achieve a successful Help Desk and Technical Support environment. An all-inclusive guide for the Help Desk or Technical Support Professional, In a Perfect World, A Survival Guide for the Help Desk Technician offers a lighthearted approach to techniques for problem solving, how to handle users of varying skill levels and demeanor, company politics (yours and theirs), and much more. In a Perfect World includes tips for broadening time management and organizational skills with emphasis on common sense. The Help Desk is often the first impression a prospective client will experience, and it is imperative all issues be resolved with expedience and professionalism rather than rubber bands and paper clips. In a Perfect World is a powerful reference tool ideal for Help Desk Technicians on the front line, Department Managers, on up to Executive Management. In a Perfect World is also great for novice and intermediate users offering valuable information suitable for sharpening their computer related skill set.

What can the early church contribute to theology today? Although introductions to Christian theology often refer to its biblical foundations, seldom is much attention paid to the key insights the early church had into the nature of Christian faith and life. Donald Fairbairn takes us back to those biblical roots and to the central convictions of the early church, showing us what we have tended to overlook, especially in our understanding of God as Trinity, the person of Christ and the nature of our salvation as sharing in the Son's relationship to the Father. This book will prove useful to beginning theology students as well as advanced theologians who want to get at the heart of the Christian gospel.
While researching her book Angel Medicine, Doreen Virtue uncovered methods used in the ancient healing temples of Atlantis. She began taking her audience members through a meditation so that they could experience a vicarious trip to an Atlantean healing temple. The results were so powerful that audiences began asking her to record the meditation. The Angel Medicine CD is a deep-clearing meditation, designed to release stored emotional pain. Working with the archangels, you’ll be able to cut etheric cords to painful relationships, release past-life traumas and troublesome vows of poverty or suffering, open your chakras with the help of the Atlantean crystal healing bed, and increase your desire to exercise and eat healthfully. Beautiful music by Angel Earth evokes the sounds of angelic healing. These meditations are discussed in the book Angel Medicine, and it is highly recommended that readers use this CD as an accompaniment to that work.
Louisa was more beautiful than me. She was also younger. She was staying with us for the summer as the nanny. At first, I had been worried about leaving my husband alone with her. But time and again he had assured me of his undying fidelity. So I let my guard down, that's when things started going wrong, oh so wrong.
The mother and daughter team of Marilyn Hickey and Sarah Bowling explain the significance of generational curses and blessings and how readers have the power to have an impact on the spiritual heritage they hand to their children.

Summer is almost over and Tom Nutcracker is soon to go to school. But deep in the forest on his father’s farm two gnomes called Pine Cone and Pepper Pot are worried. What if the school does not teach Tom his letters properly? What if the teacher messes the alphabet up? Then Tom might spell Pine Cone as NEPI NOEC, or Pepper Pot as PREPREP TOP. He might even spell the famous Tiptoes Lightly as TOESPIT THIGLLY. That would be a disaster. A huge disaster! So the two gnomes, with the help of Tiptoes Lightly and Farmer John, set out to teach Tom his letters. Tom’s younger sister, June Berry, insists on being taught too, and never will they, or anyone else who reads this tale, forget their ABC’s – or their LMNOP’s or QRST’s either. Whether your child knows their alphabet or not Pine Cone and Pepper Pot guarantee that they will see the letters and their shapes with new and creative eyes. The Alphabet is filled with stories, songs, pictures, plays and adventures silly and bold. The Alphabet is a large format, full color book, suitable for children from late kindergarten to grade three - and for teachers or homeschoolers seeking to enrich the art of learning to write. PS - the humorous use of the word 'learned' instead of 'taught' in the subtitle, while colloquial, is correct. It dates from circa 1300 and extends into our times. I am in the learned company of Shakespeare, Disraeli, Wodehouse et al. in its use. :)
